Wilderness Fellowship

The Wilderness Fellowship is a membership for leading donors wishing to support the Wilderness Education Association with an annual gift of $1000 or more. The Wilderness Fellowship supports key operations and allows the association flexibility in furthering the mission of advancing professionalism of outdoor leaders. This program recognizes our most generous donors.

Wilderness Fellowship members will receive custom swag, acknowledgement in official WEA communications, and priority recognition at the International Conference on Outdoor Leadership. 

Wilderness Fellowship Opportunities:

Shining Rock Wilderness ($1000/year)

One of the original components of the Wilderness Act of 1964 and the largest Wilderness Area in North Carolina, Shining Rock Wilderness Area is just a few miles from the WEA National Office. This diverse area has elevations over 6,000 feet and gets its name from the white quartz outcroppings.

Benefits include:

  • One 1-year Professional Membership
  • Exclusive WEA Fellowship gear
  • Exposure on WEA website
  • Invitation to Annual Benefit Dinner

Isle Royale Wilderness ($2500/year)

A remote island archipelago in Lake Superior, Isle Royal Wilderness was designated as wilderness in 1976. Isle Royal's distance from shore provides an exceptional opportunity to experience solitude in nature.

Benefits include:

  • All the benefits of Shining Rock Wilderness, plus +
  • One 1-year gift WEA Associate membership to share with family and friends

Joshua Tree Wilderness ($5000/year)

Designated as wilderness in 1976, Joshua Tree wilderness is home to towering granite monoliths and the iconic Joshua Tree. Two ecosystems come together to form this inspiring and unique desert landscape.

Benefits include:

  • All the benefits of Shining Rock Wilderness, plus +
  • Two 1-year gift WEA Associate membership to share with family and friends

Teton Wilderness ($10,000/year)

One of the original components of the Wilderness Act of 1964, some of the WEA's first courses were located near the Teton Wilderness in Wyoming. The surrounding areas were influential in the birth of the WEA.
